(Q)   I have a good gaited horse, but he is not registered. Can I register him with the PSHR?
(A)   Yes! For a limited time the PSHR offers a Hardship Clause for registering good quality gaited horses of unknown or unregistered parents. Applications falling under the Hardship Clause must be submitted with a video email attachment, YouTube link or DVD showing the horse performing an easy-riding soft gait, such as the running walk, flat walk, rack, pace, stepping pace, foxtrot, slow saddle gait or single-foot. If you want your video returned, a stamped, self addressed envelope must accompany the registration application. Additional registration fees do apply. Please see our Fees page for price. The PSHR reserves the right to deny registration of any horse that does not pass inspection for gait.

(Q)   One of my horse's parents is a registered gaited horse, but the other parent is not registered. Can I register my horse with the PSHR?

(Q)   One of my horse's parents is a registered gaited horse, but the other parent is registered with a non-gaited registry. Can I register my horse with the PSHR?
(A)   Yes! This would qualify under the Hardship Clause. Your horse can be registered if it passes inspection for gait.

(Q)   What is a gaited horse?
(A)   A gaited horse is one which performs any of the soft easy-riding four-beat gaits in place of or in addition to the trot. These gaits are the running walk, the stepping pace, pace, the foxtrot, flat walk, slow saddle gait, single-foot, and the rack. For a description of these gaits, see our Gaits page.

(Q)   How do I transfer my new Pleasure Saddle Horse into my name?
(A)   See our "How to Transfer Your Horse" on this page: Transfers

(Q)   What gait is a registered Pleasure Saddle Horse expected to perform?
(A)   The PSHR values all the easy-riding 4 beat gaits described on our Gaits page. Your horse's favorite easy-riding 4 beat gait is the gait expected of him. You have probably heard comments about gaited breeds which devaluate a horse because he does not perform the gait expected of that particular breed. With a PSHR horse, any one of [and/or all of] the soft easy-riding gaits are appreciated, accepted and correct.
